DANIEL NELSON PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
Decorator Daniel Nelson had more than 43,000 indecent images of children on his electronic devices when police raided his house.
The photographs and videos found at the 25-year-old’s home featured children as young as 18 months.
Analysis revealed the material, which also included extreme pornography featuring animals, had been downloaded over a six-year period.
Nelson, of Queen Street, Kidsgrove, pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs of children and possessing extreme pornographic images.
He had no previous convictions.
During the court hearing, prosecutor Jonathan Dickinson said that police found a vast number of indecent images on electronics seized from Nelson’s home, with creation dates from 2013 until his arrest in January 2019, with some items deleted.
Across six devices, there were 2,660 still and moving images of Category A (most serious), 1,993 of Category B, and 39,155 of Category C.
Following the guilty plea, Judge David Fletcher handed Nelson a three-year community order with a 35-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 160 hours of unpaid work.
He must work with the Probation Service to address his behavior.
The judge also imposed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting Nelson’s internet use, and he is on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
The stash is believed to be one of the biggest uncovered by Staffordshire Police.
