FACEBOOK TROLL DANIEL LABACIK GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR SENDING VIOLENT THREATS TO DEWSBURY MP PAULA SHERRIFF
A Facebook troll who sent an abusive message to Kirklees MP Paula Sherriff has walked free from court.
Father-of-four Daniel Labacik was given a suspended sentence for sending the vile message, which contained threats of sexual violence.
Kirklees Magistrates Court heard yesterday how Labacik, 38, from Balderton, Nottinghamshire, sent the "racially-motivated" message after he saw an article in relation to Miss Sherriff on the Britain First Facebook page, which shares political views with far-right group the English Defence League.
Alex Bozman, prosecuting, told the court Labacik told Labour MP Miss Sherriff she was a “dead woman walking.” The message also contained a rape threat, which Mr Bozman said was distressing to the MP because of her work with rape victims.
The comment also said: “You love Muslim lovers we got your phone number and details thanks.” Mr Bozman said: “She had worked with victims of rape in the past.
She goes on to say she doesn’t know who posted the comment.
The police spoke to Mr Labacik and as a result he appears before the court.” Labacik pleaded guilty earlier this month to sending the abusive message on June 15.
Mohammed Arif, mitigating, said Labacik had been intoxicated at the time of sending the message.
He said: “Mr Labacik joined a group on Facebook called ‘Britain First’.
“He became accustomed with an article on that group and has responded to the article by the victim.
“He is absolutely disgusted by what he has written.
“She had worked with victims of rape in the past.
“She goes on to say she doesn’t know who posted the comment.
“The police spoke to Mr Labacik and as a result he appears before the court.” Labacik was also given a 12-month restraining order against Miss Sherriff and fined £315 in costs.
The chairman of the bench Sue Lamb gave Labacik an eight-week sentence, suspended for 12 months, stating: “This was a particularly nasty communication which contained threats of violence and had a racial element.
The victim feared for her personal safety.”
