SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR CHILD MOLESTATION
A man named Daniel Harris, aged 28 and residing in Caldicot Close, Willsbridge, South Gloucestershire, was convicted and given a prison sentence for sexually abusing a young boy.
Harris admitted guilt to five counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13 years old.
The court heard that as a teenager, Harris had previously been warned for possessing indecent photographs of a minor but continued to offend once he was an adult.
The allegations involved Harris touching the boy’s private parts over his clothing during five separate episodes when the boy was approximately six years old.
During sentencing at Bristol Crown Court, Judge Martin Picton sentenced Harris to 21 months’ imprisonment.
The judge said, “You lacked control in the presence of a child and acted on your sexual impulses five times.
You may pose a danger to others, and only immediate custody can adequately punish that behavior.” Harris was also ordered to comply with a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order that forbids close contact with children, to register as a sex offender for ten years, and to be excluded from working with children and vulnerable adults.
His defense solicitor, Virginia Cornwall, recognized his ongoing struggles and requested that the court impose a suspended sentence, stressing the importance of getting him help and intervention, as she believed imprisonment would only confine him without addressing his rehabilitation.
The case underscores his history, including a prior warning related to indecent images, which highlights a repeated pattern of inappropriate behavior.
The court’s decision reflects a focus on public safety and preventing future offenses by Harris.
