CANTERBURY ROBBERY: OFFENDERS SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS FOR VIOLENT HOME INVASION
Two violent robbers, including Daniel Hake, who acted as a lookout, broke into an elderly couple's home in the Sturry Road area of Canterbury in the early hours of 26 February 2020.They threatened the occupants with a knife, forcing the man in his eighties to withdraw money, and stole various valuables.
The elderly man was also cut behind the ear and punched during the ordeal.
Hake's DNA was found on a bottle he had drunk from, and he was arrested along with Savage on 10 March.
Savage admitted robbery and Hake was found guilty following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court.
Both were sentenced on February 12, with Savage receiving 12 years and Hake 10 years.
Savage's sentence also included charges related to heroin and cocaine supply found at his former residence in 2019.
Detective Sergeant Jay Robinson emphasized the seriousness of the offense and expressed a desire to identify a third accomplice involved in the robbery.
