MOST VIOLENT RAPIST FROM WIRRAL SENTENCED TO OVER SIX YEARS
A ruthless offender viciously cut a woman's face with scissors and later subjected her to a horrifying assault.Daniel Grattan, aged 29, also attempted to set fire to the woman's breast using a lighter.
During the incident, he kicked, punched, and tried to strangle her, slammed her head against a wall, and even bit her.
Initially, he sexually assaulted the woman before committing a brutal rape.
When convicted and sentenced for his terrifying crimes, he defiantly raised both middle fingers at the judge.
Judge Anil Murray stated: "You blamed her for your violence and claimed if she resisted, she would face even harsher treatment.
You also tried to burn her with a lighter on her breast, despite her pleas for you to stop.
You struck her in the face, arms, and legs, kneed her in the back, kicked her in the face and back, and headbutted her." When she refused to have sex, Grattan spat in her face and told her that her refusal would only result in more violence.
He accused her of stealing from him, only to find the money himself after injuring her.
He made threats against her family and tampered with her mother’s car brakes, all while engaging in two sexual assaults during the same incident.
Originally from Wirral, Grattan pled guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and another charge, which is not reportable for legal reasons, during the trial's first day.
He denied charges of assault by penetration and rape but was ultimately convicted of both.
At age 17, he was imprisoned for 18 months following three assaults, including grievous bodily harm.
His violent history includes 17 previous assaults, many of which targeted women.
The judge sentenced him to 27 months for the assault, to run consecutively with an eight-year term for the rape, along with an extended five-year license, resulting in a minimum of six and a half years before eligibility for parole.
Showing no remorse, Grattan was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and to comply with a permanent restraining order.
