DANIEL DEY FROM OSWESTRY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX IMAGE OFFENSES IN SHREWSBURY

In a serious case heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court, Daniel Dey, a 42-year-old resident of Beatrice Street in Oswestry, was convicted of possessing a large collection of indecent images of children.

The court proceedings revealed that Dey had downloaded over a thousand such images, with the total count reaching approximately 1,200.

These images included some of the most disturbing and severe types, with 155 photographs depicting the rape or torture of young children, highlighting the gravity of the offense.

Following his admission to three charges of creating indecent images, which spanned from May 2014 to October of the previous year, Dey was sentenced to a community order.

This order requires him to undertake 35 days of rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing his behavior and a six-month program for alcohol treatment, reflecting the court’s concern over his overall conduct and potential underlying issues.

Judge Peter Barrie emphasized the seriousness of the crimes and imposed additional restrictions on Dey’s future conduct.

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was issued, which limits his access to the internet to prevent further offenses.

Furthermore, Dey was ordered to sign the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing monitoring and management of his case to protect the community from any potential risk.
