RAUNDS PAEDOPHILE DANIEL CORBIN ESCAPES JAIL DESPITE NEARLY 4,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In a case that has shocked the community of Raunds, Daniel Corbin, a 34-year-old resident of Mallows Drive, narrowly avoided imprisonment after admitting to possessing an alarming number of child abuse images. The court heard that Corbin had downloaded a total of 3,907 indecent images of children, with a significant portion classified as the most severe category A. This disturbing revelation was made during his sentencing at Northampton Crown Court, where the judge described Corbin as being 'a whisker away' from being sent to prison.

Corbin's arrest took place in October of the previous year when police executed a search warrant and discovered the illicit images on his mobile phone. During police interviews, he confessed to having been downloading such material over a period of time, revealing an addiction that had become an integral part of his daily life. The court was informed that Corbin's viewing habits had escalated to the point where accessing these images was almost routine for him.

The images found on Corbin's device included 1,398 in the most severe category A, 990 in category B, and 1,519 in category C. In addition to possessing these images, Corbin also admitted to sharing two images on an internet chat platform and possessing extreme pornographic content. His background was also discussed, revealing that he was a former Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) in Bedfordshire, although he was not actively serving at the time of his offending.

Since his guilty plea, Corbin has faced threats from members of the public, reflecting the community's outrage. The court acknowledged his mental health issues but emphasized the gravity of his actions. His family, who attended the hearing, continue to support him despite the serious nature of his crimes.

During sentencing, His Honour Judge David Herbert QC emphasized the narrow margin by which Corbin avoided a custodial sentence, stating that he was 'a whisker away' from being taken into custody. Corbin appeared in the dock dressed in a suit with a purple tie, sporting a topknot hairstyle. The judge sentenced him to a three-year community order, which includes a six-month electronic tag and curfew, as well as mandatory mental health and sex offender rehabilitation programs.

Furthermore, a sexual harm prevention order was issued to restrict Corbin's internet usage, and he is required to register as a sex offender. The judge made it clear that the exploitation of children to produce such images is a grave offense, stating, 'I hope you understand that young children have to suffer to produce these images for people like you to view.' This case underscores the ongoing concerns about online child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in tackling such heinous crimes in Raunds and beyond.
