DANIEL CATLIN PENSACNE'S PREDATOR FROM PENZANCE: SHOCKING ONLINE SEXUAL PLOT REVEALED
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Penzance, Cornwall, Daniel Catlin, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses involving minors, has once again come under scrutiny for his predatory behavior. Catlin, who was first convicted in 2013 for downloading indecent images of children, has demonstrated a troubling pattern of attempting to manipulate and exploit young individuals online despite previous interventions and support aimed at curbing his dangerous tendencies.During a recent hearing at Truro Crown Court on Thursday, March 13, the court was informed of Catlin’s continued efforts to target vulnerable teenagers. Despite his prior convictions and the help he received, the 32-year-old from Penzance persisted in seeking out young girls for his own sexual gratification. The court heard that between January 23 and January 26 of the previous year, Catlin made contact with two girls aged between 13 and 15 through Facebook, a social media platform he used to carry out his illicit intentions.
It was revealed that on two separate occasions, Catlin asked the girls to perform acts of masturbation for him and engaged in discussions about teaching them about sex. Unbeknownst to him, the Facebook profiles he used had been set up by officers from Devon and Cornwall Police as part of an undercover operation. These police officers had created the profiles to monitor and gather evidence against individuals like Catlin who sought to exploit minors online.
The court was told that Catlin’s actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the support and interventions he had previously received. His attempts to manipulate young girls for sexual purposes highlight a persistent pattern of predatory behavior that authorities are determined to address.
Judge Carr sentenced Daniel Catlin to a term of three years in prison. The sentence includes a stipulation that he will serve 40% of his term before being eligible for release on licence. Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed for a period of ten years, restricting his activities and contact with minors. Catlin will also be registered on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct and preventing further harm to the community of Penzance and beyond.
