DANIEL CARTWRIGHT FROM TRAFFORD CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In a disturbing case uncovered in Trafford, Daniel Cartwright, aged 24, was found to possess an alarming collection of over 4,000 indecent images of children. The authorities discovered that he had been actively involved in viewing and sharing such material, revealing a troubling pattern of behavior that spanned several years.

In June 2019, police officers executed a search warrant at Cartwright’s residence in Stretford, Trafford. During the search, they seized five electronic devices, including his mobile phone, iPad, laptop, and two desktop computers. A thorough examination of these devices uncovered a significant number of illegal images, with 912 classified as Category A—the most severe type—alongside 422 Category B images and a staggering 3,472 Category C images. These images depicted children aged between one and 15, with the majority between nine and 11 years old. Many of the images showed children in states of obvious distress, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material.

Further investigation revealed that Cartwright had been actively sharing content online. Police found evidence that he had recorded an eight-minute video from a live stream, which he then uploaded to a file-sharing platform called ‘Mega’. He also shared the link to this file within various live streams and chat threads, including a chat group named ‘RealPervs’. The site administrator of ‘RealPervs’ reportedly responded to his sharing with the comment, “I know you share when you can,” indicating an environment where such sharing was tolerated or encouraged.

Authorities also discovered that Cartwright had used software designed to permanently delete images, suggesting an awareness of the illegal nature of his activities and an attempt to conceal them. Despite these efforts, the evidence was overwhelming. The police found that he had been searching for and downloading images involving children as young as four, as well as content related to incest, bestiality, and anal rape. His internet history included search terms that confirmed he had been seeking out such material for approximately three years.

During police interviews, Cartwright admitted to using an app on his iPad to access these images. He acknowledged that he knew his actions were wrong and that he would likely be caught, describing his behavior as “part of the thrill” and claiming to be “addicted” to child abuse images. He also admitted to viewing images of children aged between 13 and 17, and even as young as six. His frank admissions and the extensive evidence led to his plea of guilty to three counts of making indecent images and one count of possessing an indecent image with intent to distribute.

Despite the severity of the case, Cartwright, of Rowsley Road, was granted bail until his next court appearance. The case continues to be closely monitored by authorities as they seek justice for the victims and address the disturbing nature of his offenses.
