DANIEL BRADLEY FROM APPLEBY FACES JAIL OVER CHILD SEX CRIMES IN CUMBRIA

In August 2017, a man from Appleby, Cumbria, was brought before Carlisle Crown Court to face serious allegations related to child sex offenses. Daniel McKenzie Bradley, aged 33, appeared in court to admit to two separate charges involving minors, with the proceedings overseen by Judge Peter Hughes QC.

Bradley pleaded guilty to attempting to incite a female under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity. Additionally, he admitted to causing or inciting a different girl, who was approximately 16 years old, to participate in sexual acts and to send explicit photographs of herself. The court did not disclose specific details about the nature of these crimes, but the prosecutor, Gerard Rogerson, highlighted the significant age disparity between Bradley and his victims.

Regarding the charge involving the older girl, Mr. Rogerson indicated that the victim was likely around 10 years old, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the offenses. The court was informed that Bradley had submitted a formal basis for his guilty pleas, with the alleged offenses occurring between early January and mid-October of the previous year.

It was also revealed that Bradley had previously pleaded guilty at a magistrates’ court to three counts of making 92 indecent photographs of a child, including 21 images classified as Category A, which is considered the most serious level of such material. These prior convictions underscored the severity of his criminal record.

During the hearing, Bradley’s defense lawyer, Richard Archer, acknowledged that his client understood the possibility of being sentenced to prison. Archer remarked, “He has come with a bag to go to prison — as he has on every other (court) occasion.” Despite this, Bradley was seeking to resolve personal matters before the court determined his sentence.

Judge Hughes decided to adjourn the sentencing hearing, which could take place as early as Thursday of that week. In the meantime, Bradley was granted bail. He has already been ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register, with the exact duration of this requirement to be decided at sentencing.
