DAMIEN BANCFORT SHARES CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DUNDEE AND FORFAR

In June 2016, Damien Bancroft, a man from Dundee and Forfar, was found to have engaged in the disturbing possession and distribution of child abuse images. Bancroft, aged 36 at the time, was identified as a self-confessed pornography addict who had been involved in sharing illicit material over a span of more than four years and a half.

According to court proceedings, police officers acting on credible information conducted a search and discovered a significant collection of illegal content stored across multiple devices. Specifically, they recovered over 600 still images and 16 videos from two laptops and a mobile phone belonging to Bancroft. The authorities revealed that the material included indecent images of children, which Bancroft could not adequately explain or justify.

During police interviews, Bancroft admitted to being addicted to pornography, a habit he claimed had begun when he was 19 years old. He acknowledged that he had downloaded and shared these images with others, but he was unable to clarify why some of the material involved children. The court was informed that Bancroft had taken or created indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of minors between May 14, 2011, and October 20, 2015. Furthermore, he admitted to distributing such indecent images, which is a serious criminal offense.

At the hearing, Sheriff Pino de Emidio decided to continue Bancroft’s bail, allowing him to remain free until his sentencing. The court also ordered that Bancroft be placed on the sex offenders register in the meantime, reflecting the gravity of his offenses. The case is scheduled for sentencing at Forfar Sheriff Court on August 3, where further legal actions and penalties will be determined.
