CHIP SHOP OWNER DALER SINGH JAILED FOR COERCIVE CONTROL AND THREATS
Daler Singh, 47, formerly of Edgerton Place, Whitchurch, who owns Snapper Fish and Chips, in Brownlow Street, was witnessed by employees at the shop threatening the woman with a kebab knife after she refused to do the washing up.
Shrewsbury Crown Court was told that Singh, who admitted controlling and coercive behaviour, was an “alcoholic” with five previous convictions for drink driving as well as a number of other alcohol-related offences.
The court sentenced him to two years in jail for his actions, which included a campaign of coercive control against a woman.
Singh's defence stated that he accepted he was “an alcoholic and alcohol dependent” but had been sober for six months after spending time in prison on remand.
The judge described him as a “violent bully” for his conduct.
