DALE LEADBITTER AND CURTIS CRIGHTON CHARGED IN NEWTON AYCLIFFE CRIME CASE
Two men faced serious legal charges in connection with a disturbing incident that occurred in Newton Aycliffe. Dale Leadbitter, aged 24 and a resident of Bluebell Meadows in Newton Aycliffe, was among those brought before the court. The other individual involved was Curtis James Crighton, aged 31, who resides on Regent Street in Shildon.According to court records, the alleged offenses took place on Monday, December 16, within the boundaries of Newton Aycliffe. The charges include the unlawful detention of a child, an act that raises significant concern for community safety and child protection authorities. Additionally, both men are accused of possessing crack cocaine, a serious drug-related offense that contributes to ongoing concerns about drug trafficking and abuse in the region.
During the hearing at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court, both defendants were represented by their legal counsel, Mr. John Clish. Interestingly, Mr. Clish requested that bail not be granted for Dale Leadbitter, citing reasons that were not specified in the court documents. The magistrates, however, decided that they did not have the jurisdiction to hear the case fully at this level and therefore remanded both men into police custody.
Both Leadbitter and Crighton are scheduled to appear at Durham Crown Court on Friday, January 17, where the case will be further examined and prosecuted. The community and authorities await the proceedings, which are expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding these serious allegations.
