BRADFORD OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR ELDERLY WOMAN'S KIDNAP AND RAPE
Dale Boocock from Bradford was sentenced for the kidnapping and rape of an 86-year-old woman from a care home, an attack that took place while he was on bail for burglary. In 2010, he was jailed after he was found to have dragged the elderly woman from her bed, outside in the garden, and raped her.
The incident occurred after Boocock entered Springfield care home in Bradford, where he was described as high on alcohol and drugs.
The victim, who suffered from dementia and incontinence, was left bruised and bloodied, and died two months later.
Although doctors stated that her death was not directly caused by the attack, the court recognized that her condition deteriorated rapidly following the assault.
Boocock, who has no fixed address, was given an indeterminate prison sentence with a minimum of four years and nine months.
It was revealed that he had committed multiple burglaries, including the one linked to the attack.
During sentencing, the judge described Boocock's actions as 'appalling' and noted his 'almost unbelievable callousness.' The victim’s family expressed devastation, with her daughter recounting her daily mourning and the fear she observed in her mother during hospital visits.
Boocock admitted to multiple charges including rape, kidnapping, attempted burglary, and two burglaries.
An officer commented that Boocock posed a significant risk to the public, especially vulnerable individuals, noting that he had carried out other burglaries following the care home assault.
The court emphasized his lack of remorse and the severe impact on the victim and her family.
