ST OSYTH MAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER THREATENING TO UPLOAD INTIMATE IMAGES
A man identified as Curtis Hart, aged 36, threatened to upload intimate pictures of a woman online after suffering an emotional breakdown.
He appeared before Colchester Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to one count of threatening to disclose private sexual photographs with the intent to cause distress.
Prosecutor George Dixon stated that Hart threatened to upload the material to a website and send it to the victim's partner.
During police interviews, Hart did not deny his actions.
Defence lawyer Gavin Harris noted that Hart had not disclosed any images, had not contacted the victim, and was remorseful for his actions, citing an emotional breakdown as the reason.
The court was told that Hart showed willingness to comply with the help and interventions offered.
The magistrates court sentenced Hart to an 18-month community order, up to 30 days of rehabilitation activities, and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, a 12-month restraining order was imposed, and Hart was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £114 surcharge.
Hart was supported by his mother during the court proceedings.
