CURTIS FERGUSON FROM SALISBURY AND WARMISTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING YOUNG VICTIMS

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local communities of Salisbury and Warminster, Curtis Ferguson, a man with a disturbing history of sexual offenses, has been sentenced to three years in prison for his predatory behavior towards minors. The court proceedings, held at Winchester Crown Court, revealed a troubling pattern of abuse that began when Ferguson was just 16 years old.

It was in December 2007 that Ferguson, then aged 16, committed his first known act of sexual misconduct by abusing a 13-year-old boy. The court heard that Ferguson did not stop there; he reoffended three years later, again targeting the same young victim. These incidents formed part of a series of charges that included two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a male under the age of 16, as well as five counts of inciting a male under 16 to participate in sexual acts.

Further complicating his criminal record, Ferguson was also convicted in 2009 of similar offenses involving an eight-year-old girl, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior across different victims and genders. The judge, Guy Boney, expressed his grave concern over Ferguson’s conduct, stating, “Between the ages of 16 and 19, you have a disturbing record of practicing your own obviously strong sexual urges above the interests of younger and vulnerable people of both genders, and I have to say, showing a degree of planning and manipulation.”

A probation officer’s report, read aloud during the sentencing, painted a bleak picture of Ferguson as “a manipulative young man who has the ability to target and groom vulnerable victims for his own sexual gratification.” The report also highlighted concerns about Ferguson’s denial of his actions, describing his level of denial as “a concern” and emphasizing the risk he poses to the public.

Judge Boney emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, “It is extremely difficult for probation to suggest any way you can be helped. I have to make the protection of the public my priority, and you present a high risk.” As part of his sentence, Ferguson was also ordered to be subject to a sexual offences prevention order for five years and to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely.

DC Darren Ambrose of Wiltshire Police commented on the case, praising the bravery of the victim who came forward. “The sentence today was the result of the victim in this case having the bravery to come forward, and I would like to commend him. Ferguson has never accepted responsibility for his actions, and we hope the punishment he has received today will give him the opportunity to realize the gravity of his offenses. We also hope this case encourages other victims of sexual abuse to come forward, knowing that we take all reports very seriously and will conduct thorough investigations.”

At the time of sentencing, Ferguson was known to have ties to Warminster but was most recently residing without a fixed address in Salisbury. His release is scheduled for the week beginning January 12th, 2015, and he will be under strict supervision during his probation period.
