DOG OWNER JAILED AFTER HE NEGLECTED SHAR PEI POOCH AND REFUSED TO TAKE IT TO VET
Craig Taylor confessed to mistreating his Shar Pei mixed breed dog, Tank, who was suffering from a severe skin condition and had scratches covering his body.Upon receiving reports about the dog's poor condition, the SSPCA sent investigators to his home, instructing him to take the dog to a veterinarian and even arranging the veterinary appointments on his behalf.
Despite this, Taylor repeatedly declined to have Tank treated.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin issued a fine to Taylor but did not allow time for payment, resulting in a nearly 28-day prison sentence instead.
Additionally, she imposed a five-year ban on him owning animals.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the SSPCA had scheduled multiple vet visits, but Taylor either missed these appointments or claimed forgetfulness.
When confronted with evidence of the dog’s condition, he refused to relinquish ownership of Tank.
He was subsequently arrested and admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to his dog by neglecting to seek veterinary care.
The court sentenced him to a £1,000 fine and prohibited him from keeping animals for five years, along with a 28-day jail term.
