DUNDEE PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR HOARDING CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS
A paedophile known online as “send_me_anything”, who hoarded child abuse videos in Dundee, has been jailed.First offender Craig Steele used forum site Reddit and encrypted chat network Telegram to amass material of children as young as two being sexually abused.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard how Steele claimed he was not attracted to children and had no idea how the Telegram application was on his mobile phone.
The 34-year-old previously pled guilty to possessing indecent images between April and November 2024 at his home on Methven Walk.
Steele was arrested at the butcher’s shop where he worked as a sales assistant.
Police seized his phone and he told them he regularly used Reddit to access pornography.
A full cybercrime analysis found dozens of child abuse videos, the majority of which were at the highest level of depravity (Category A).
Ms Ritchie described the videos, with one depicting a female child aged between two to four years old performing a sexual act on an adult male, which had a run-time of one hour and 29 minutes.
A secure, encrypted folder was found on the phone along with a Telegram account and the username “send_me_anything”.
This was linked to Steele’s email address.
Chat threads were also discovered that featured users sharing child sexual abuse material.
Steele returned to court for sentencing following the preparation of a social work report.
His lack of previous convictions did not prevent Sheriff Derek Hamilton jailing him for 16 months and he was placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
