CORMAC BROWN'S HORRIFIC CRIME IN LUPSET: TEENAGE VICTIMS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED AFTER DRUG AND ALCOHOL FUELED NIGHTMARE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Lupset, Wakefield, Cormac Brown, a 32-year-old man, was sentenced to ten years in prison after being found guilty of heinous sexual offenses committed against two teenage girls. The incidents occurred on September 30, 2017, and involved Brown exploiting vulnerable minors after a night of heavy drinking and drug use.

According to court proceedings, Brown and his partner had spent the day consuming alcohol with another couple. As their supplies ran out, Brown drove the other man to a Sainsbury's store in Wakefield to purchase a bottle of vodka. On their way back, the two men decided to buy cocaine, which they intended to use privately. They drove to a secluded field in Lupset to consume the drugs, attempting to hide their activities from their partners.

While in the field, three teenage girls approached the men, asking if they could share some of the cocaine. Brown, instead of dismissing them, allowed the girls to take some of the illicit substance. The judge overseeing the case, Judge Rodney Jameson QC, highlighted the gravity of Brown’s actions, stating, “Faced with three young people you should have sent them packing and you chose not to do so. You were content to allow them to take some of the cocaine.”

Over the next several hours, Brown ignored repeated calls from his increasingly worried partner. Instead of returning home, he decided to continue spending time with the girls. Brown and his friend drove around Lupset, consuming more alcohol and cocaine, while the girls accompanied them. Eventually, Brown took the girls back to a house in the early hours of the morning, where the sexual assaults took place.

The court heard that Brown engaged in sexual activity with one of the girls despite her pleas for him to stop. Moments later, he committed a similar offense against the second girl. The victims, both minors aged 15 and 16, later provided statements describing the profound emotional and psychological impact of the assaults. They revealed feelings of depression and anxiety, and expressed relief that Brown was finally held accountable. One girl stated, “I found giving evidence very hard and felt like they were making me out to be a liar. When I was told that he had been found guilty I felt relieved that it was finally over.”

During the trial, a recording of a 999 emergency call made by one of the victims was played in court, illustrating the distress caused by the incident. The jury convicted Brown of rape against the 16-year-old girl and a serious sexual offense against the 15-year-old. The judge made it clear that Brown showed no remorse for his actions, stating, “The jury rejected your evidence and I also reject it. I cannot give you credit for any sort of guilty plea or for any remorse which you plainly do not feel.”

Brown, a father of two, resides on Esther Grove in Lupset, Wakefield. His family has been deeply affected by his convictions, with his legal representative, Matthew Burdon, noting that Brown is struggling to cope while in custody. The court also ordered Brown to register as a sex offender for life, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the need for ongoing public safety measures.
