COREY NESBITT'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN SOUTH SHIELDS LEAD TO 16-YEAR SENTENCE

In a case that has shocked the community of South Shields, Corey Nesbitt, a 19-year-old man, has been sentenced to a substantial prison term of 16 years after admitting to multiple heinous crimes involving sexual assault and burglary.

The sentencing took place at Newcastle Crown Court, where Nesbitt’s guilty pleas to three counts of rape and one count of burglary were formally accepted by the court.

Between March and November 2017, Nesbitt preyed on vulnerable women in South Shields, targeting victims through manipulative and predatory behavior.

His first known assault involved a 14-year-old girl whom he contacted via social media.

After luring her to his residence on Saint Jude’s Terrace, Nesbitt committed a sexual assault against her.

The young girl, traumatized by the incident, later confided in her parents, leading to police involvement and the eventual arrest of Nesbitt.

The second attack occurred in November of the same year.

Nesbitt encountered a 21-year-old woman in West Park, where he took her to a secluded area.

During this encounter, he threatened her with the words, “I am going to rape you like you’ve never been raped before,” before proceeding to assault her twice in the park.

The woman managed to escape, flag down a taxi, and report the assault to the police, which initiated a thorough investigation that eventually led to Nesbitt’s arrest.

Following his apprehension, Nesbitt was taken into custody.

His arrest was made in the early hours of the following day, not long after police responded to a report of a burglary at a business premises on Sea Road, South Shields.

During the investigation, officers found Nesbitt intoxicated inside the premises, which further confirmed his involvement in the crimes.

His criminal activities have now been effectively halted, removing him from the streets and preventing any further harm.

During the sentencing hearing, a victim expressed her anguish, stating, “Although I am thankful that he did eventually plead guilty and did not make me go to court, he did not do this until the day of the trial.

He still left me thinking I was going to have to stand in court and talk about the most horrific experience of my life in front of strangers and him.

My whole life has been on hold since the incident.

No sentence will be long enough to reflect the pain and hurt he has caused me.

Because of him, I am now serving a life sentence as I feel like I will never be able to put this behind me.” Detective Constable Hayley McIntosh of Northumbria Police praised the bravery of the victims and emphasized the importance of justice.

She stated, “I am pleased to be stood here knowing that Nesbitt is now behind bars and is unable to carry out any further appalling acts of this kind.

He is clearly a danger to society.

He preyed on both of his victims, first earning their trust before subjecting them to horrific ordeals.

Nesbitt must live with the consequences of his actions and know he has caused enormous hurt to his victims and their families.

Although today’s sentence cannot take back what the victims have been put through, I hope it can bring some sort of justice.

They have both shown incredible bravery throughout this investigation.

I would encourage any victim of rape or sexual assault to look at this sentence and come forward.

You will be taken seriously and will be offered the specialist support you need.” Today’s verdict marks a significant step in the pursuit of justice for the victims and a warning to others who might consider similar criminal conduct in South Shields.

Nesbitt’s lengthy incarceration ensures he will be off the streets for a considerable period, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the community’s demand for safety and accountability.
