Connor Thomson Child Sexual Abuser in Caithness

A December 2013 case saw a sheriff remind the public that the law’s purpose is to protect young females after a teenage male was accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

According to court testimony, Connor Thomson, aged 18, had planned to meet the girl secretly.

She misled her parents by saying she was staying with a friend in Thurso, but on August 18, she traveled to Wick to meet Thomson.

They stayed at a different address from his home, where they had consensual intercourse on a sofa after the householders went to sleep.

The girl’s mother eventually discovered her daughter’s deception, prompting police inquiries.

Sheriff Andrew Berry, who reviewed a background report, clarified that Thomson was not seen as a predator or a threat, but acknowledged that his conduct was wrong.

The sheriff also expressed regret that someone with a promising future had engaged in behavior that might have long-lasting implications.

Connor Thomson, of 14 Macleod Road, Wick, was ordered to perform 100 hours of unpaid work over a six-month period and will remain under supervision during this time.
