CONNAR SHAW: ROTHERHAM MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ABUSE OF PARTNER
Connar Shaw, a 31-year-old man from Rotherham, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for a prolonged campaign of physical and mental abuse against his partner.
During their twelve-year relationship, Shaw inflicted severe injuries including breaking her jaw, strangling her, and threatening to throw acid in her face with the intent of deterring others from wanting her.
His partner reports that she still fears for her life and worries he will seek revenge after his release.
The police were alerted following an incident where they found Shaw's partner covered in blood with serious head injuries, after being called to an argument outside their home in Killamarsh.
Their young daughter also reported that Shaw was punching her mother so forcefully that the car shook.
In her victim impact statement, she expressed her wish for Shaw to leave her alone and concern that he might eventually kill her.
Detective Constable Kate Morrell, who led the investigation, stated that Shaw had lived in fear of Shaw for years and continues to struggle with trauma.
Shaw admitted to two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and was subsequently jailed for two and a half years at Derby Crown Court.
