CLIVE GARRAD FROM KIRKBY AND MARTON JAILED FOR MOLESTATION OF YOUNG GIRL
In June 2018, a disturbing case unfolded involving Clive Garrad, a 57-year-old man with ties to both Kirkby and Marton, who was convicted of molesting a young girl on two separate occasions.Despite his protests of innocence, Garrad was found guilty by a jury at Liverpool Crown Court and subsequently sentenced to two years in prison.
During the court proceedings, Judge Rachel Smith detailed the nature of the offenses, revealing that Garrad had molested the girl, who was approximately 11 or 12 years old at the time, during visits to his home.
The judge noted that on both occasions, Garrad had a noticeable smell of alcohol on his breath, which raised concerns about his state of mind during the incidents.
Judge Smith emphasized that Garrad was aware that the girl had not reported the first incident, likely believing she would not speak out again.
However, she pointed out that the passage of years did not erase the memory of the abuse from the victim, who eventually decided to report the matter to the police.
Garrad, who was residing at Meadowbrook, Marton at the time of his arrest, was taken into custody following her complaint.
The judge further explained that the victim’s decision to come forward was motivated by her concern for the safety of other young girls with whom Garrad was in regular contact.
Garrad, who had previously lived on Kerr Close in Kirkby, Liverpool, denied all allegations during the trial.
In his defense, he called upon his wife and sons to testify on his behalf, but the court found the evidence against him compelling.
This case highlights the serious nature of the offenses and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children from individuals who may pose a threat to their safety and well-being.
