CLIVE FRAMPTON SEX OFFENDER FROM CHELSEA AND CALSHOT SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE
In a case that spanned over three decades, Clive Frampton, a 75-year-old man from Chelsea, has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of multiple counts of child sexual abuse committed while he was residing in Calshot, Hampshire. The conviction came after a jury deliberated for less than an hour, swiftly returning a guilty verdict on six separate charges of child abuse.Frampton’s victim endured years of emotional trauma and suffering as a result of his actions. The abuse, which took place in the early 1980s, left her with ongoing difficulties in forming and maintaining personal relationships. She also developed a problematic alcohol dependency, which she attributed to her efforts to cope with the pain and shame associated with the abuse. Her ordeal persisted silently for many years, until she sought counselling, which ultimately led her to contact Hampshire police authorities.
It was through this counselling process that she found the courage to come forward and report the abuse. Her decision to speak out was instrumental in initiating a police investigation that eventually uncovered the long-hidden crimes of Clive Frampton. Frampton, who is a retired marine engineer and previously worked as an archivist at the Military Powerboat Trust located on the Waterside, was arrested and charged based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Gary Burrell addressed the court and the victim directly, stating, “She may never fully recover from what you did. You should be thoroughly ashamed of your life. She will carry those unpleasant memories to the grave, as many do who have been abused in their younger years. In my judgment, you have no remorse, and you are unlikely to ever develop any.”
Following the conviction, Detective Constable Craig Fielding expressed his gratitude to the victim for her bravery in coming forward. He emphasized that her courage played a crucial role in securing justice for her and others who may have suffered in silence. Detective Fielding also urged anyone who might have experienced similar abuse to seek help and report their experiences, whether directly to the police or through support services dedicated to assisting victims of sexual offences and abuse.
This case highlights the importance of perseverance and support for victims of long-standing abuse, and serves as a reminder that justice can be achieved even after many years have passed.
