RETIRED BRADFORD DETECTIVE INSPECTOR DENIES SEX ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS IN COURT
A retired former detective accused of sexually assaulting a woman with a sex toy today told a jury: “It’s all lies.” Claudine Binns, 52, a former detective inspector with West Yorkshire Police who worked in Bradford, denies assault by penetration and attempted assault by penetration.She told the court she was devastated when she was arrested in 2022 and has not stopped feeling devastated over the past four years.
She described the allegations as “complete lies”, “malicious”, and “purely financially motivated” due to money she was due to receive, claiming they were made “through spite”.
Miss Binns, who joined police in 1990 and retired in 2022 after a 32-year career, discussed her career and the trauma associated with her job dealing with child deaths.
She stated that she and the complainant had sex consensually and that claims to the contrary are lies.
The sex toy involved was found during a police search of her home following her arrest.
Character references from her former police colleagues highlighted her good character, with mentions of commendations and her integrity.
During cross-examination, she denied giving the complainant anything other than food and drink and dismissed allegations of spiking her drinks, emphasizing no drugs were found during her search or testing.
She also denied using the sex toy against the complainant’s will, and stated she provided a detailed statement that outlined consensual sex.
She repeatedly asserted that the allegations are untrue.
