REBECCA DURKIN FROM SOUTHPORT FOUND GUILTY OF MANSLAUGHTER IN TRAGIC FAMILY INCIDENT
In a case that has shocked the community of Southport, a teenage girl named Rebecca Durkin was involved in a tragic incident that led to her being detained and subsequently tried in court.Although she was ultimately found not guilty of her mother Clancy Durkin's murder, she admitted to manslaughter after a distressing event at their family home in Southport in January.

“You did your best for each other, but you suffered long-term cruelty at her hands,” the judge stated.
He also described Clancy Durkin as a woman whose addiction to alcohol had significantly impaired her judgment, contributing to the troubled environment in which Rebecca was raised.
The case has been described as profoundly tragic, highlighting the devastating effects of prolonged abuse and addiction.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) emphasized that Clancy Durkin’s relationship with her daughter was fraught with conflict, including arguments and incidents such as an attempt by Rebecca to smother her mother.
Rebecca was also reported to have struggled with suicidal tendencies, which were linked to the ongoing issues within the family.
Clancy Durkin was known publicly as an alcoholic, and her relationship with Rebecca was marked by frequent disputes.
Despite her struggles, Clancy was also recognized as a caring individual who contributed positively to those around her.
