CINDY MOMPLE'S OBSESSIVE STALKING SPREE IN BIRMINGHAM HOSPITAL LEAVES VICTIM FEARFUL AND FRUSTRATED

A woman working at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham has endured an intense and prolonged campaign of stalking carried out by her former lover, Cindy Momple. The victim, whose identity remains protected, found herself living in constant fear as Momple relentlessly pursued her over a period exceeding two years, despite having been twice convicted of similar offenses in the past.

Momple's history of obsessive behavior dates back to a previous conviction in 2017, which stemmed from a brief relationship that lasted approximately three months in 2015. Despite the court issuing a restraining order that explicitly forbade her from approaching the victim's workplace or residence, Momple repeatedly ignored these legal restrictions. Birmingham Crown Court heard that she refused to cease her unwanted attention and, on one troubling occasion, even threatened the victim by claiming she had a knife concealed in her bag.

The victim recounted a particularly distressing incident on December 19 of the previous year. While waiting for a bus outside Heartlands Hospital, she noticed Momple approaching her. The offender exited a taxi, smiled in a manner that the victim found threatening, and continued to follow her. To avoid further confrontation, the victim altered her usual route home. However, her ordeal did not end there. Approximately an hour after arriving home, Momple appeared at her doorstep, knocking on the door and then loitering outside her house. The victim, feeling increasingly unsafe, confronted Momple and called the police when she refused to leave the premises.

Police officers responded swiftly and arrested Momple shortly after her arrival by taxi. It was revealed during the court proceedings that Momple had previously admitted to breaching a restraining order, which resulted in her serving a 15-month jail sentence. Judge Richard Bond described her as 'a woman who is lightly convicted,' emphasizing that her prior convictions were directly related to the victim in the current case.

The victim expressed her emotional exhaustion and frustration, stating, 'I feel I am the one being punished.' She described feeling worn down by the relentless pursuit and the constant fear that her safety was at risk. Defense lawyer Gerald Bermingham acknowledged that Momple was remorseful for her actions, but the court's verdict underscored the seriousness of her obsessive behavior and her blatant disregard for legal restrictions. The sentence handed down reflects the court's recognition of the severity of her persistent stalking and the danger posed to the victim in Birmingham.
