CHRISTY STOKES ARRESTED IN COTHEMANN FOR RAPE NEAR PETERBOROUGH'S LINCOLN ROAD

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, a 17-year-old girl was subjected to a brutal sexual assault in Peterborough last year. The incident occurred in the evening hours near the Alternative Curriculum Education Centre on Lincoln Road, a location familiar to many residents of the area.

According to police reports, the young woman was walking home when she was approached by a man who engaged her in conversation. Without warning, the man forcibly pushed her against a wall and carried out a sexual assault. The attack was captured on nearby CCTV footage, which proved crucial in identifying the suspect.

Authorities were alerted to the assault shortly after it happened, and an investigation was swiftly launched. The police focused their efforts on gathering additional evidence and tracking down the perpetrator. Three days after the attack, officers were in the vicinity of the crime scene, reviewing CCTV footage for further clues. During this surveillance, they identified a man matching the suspect’s description, dressed in the same clothing seen in the footage.

When the police approached the individual, he was initially uncooperative and attempted to flee. However, he was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. The suspect was later identified as Christy Stokes, a 39-year-old man residing at Victoria View in Smithy Fen, Cottenham.

Stokes was formally charged with multiple serious offenses, including rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault by penetration. He denied all allegations during the legal proceedings. The case proceeded to a week-long trial at Huntingdon Law Court, where the evidence presented led to a unanimous guilty verdict on all counts.

Following his conviction, Christy Stokes was remanded into custody.
