CHRISTOPHER TYRYK'S HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN TROWBRIDGE REVEALED

In a deeply disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Trowbridge, Christopher Tyryk, a man previously employed as a technician at Wessex Water, has been convicted of heinous child sex offenses. The revelations about his crimes emerged after a six-day trial held in October, culminating in his sentencing at Winchester Crown Court, where he received an 11-year prison term.

Tyryk's crimes spanned over nine years, during which he manipulated and abused two young victims, now in their twenties. The court heard how he subjected them to a series of sexual games, forcing them into acts that have left lasting scars. The severity of his actions was underscored by the fact that he was charged with 12 counts of child sex offenses, including one count of rape.

The case came to light earlier this year when the victims, driven by a desire for justice and inspired by a storyline from the BBC soap EastEnders, decided to contact the police. Their bravery in coming forward was praised by Detective Constable Nicky Littlefield, who led the investigation. She expressed her admiration for their courage, stating, "The two victims were extraordinarily brave and I have the utmost respect for them. They have been through so much and finally they can put the past behind them."

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Tyryk had repeatedly denied the allegations, choosing not to inform his family about the case until the trial was well underway. His wife, Sue Tyryk, who has two children of her own, was unaware of her husband's trial until the fourth day of proceedings. She recounted her shock upon learning the details, describing her feelings as being akin to losing someone she once knew. "He kept telling me he didn’t know when the trial was. He was keeping everything from me," she said. "I sat there and was not taking anything in. What I was hearing was absolutely disgusting."

Mrs. Tyryk further explained that she believed her marriage was over once she learned of her husband's guilt. She stated, "You can’t stay married to someone like that. It is over for me. There is no way he didn’t do it. There is far too much evidence against him. Those two victims would have to be Einstein to pull this off." She also shared her feelings of estrangement, saying, "I feel like he is a stranger now. It is like having someone who has died but it’s much worse."

In court, the victims expressed their relief and sense of justice after Tyryk was sentenced. The female victim described feeling numb but relieved, saying, "I am so glad justice has been done. I can get on with the rest of my life. In the courtroom I didn’t want to look at him. I couldn’t. But I feel that going through all the court case and reliving what happened was worth it." The male victim echoed these sentiments, adding, "Any sentence would have been enough. I am happy now he has been convicted but like I said before it doesn’t matter if he gets one year or 50 years because people at last know what he did to us. I feel so much stronger than I ever have done before."

Following his conviction, Tyryk was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and was prohibited from working with children. His address on Drynham Lane, Trowbridge, was also part of the court's restrictions. The judge, Judge Tom Longbotham, emphasized the gravity of the crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring to protect the community from further harm.
