CHRISTOPHER SIBELLAS FROM OVERSTRAND JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES IN NORFOLK
In a significant case that has sent shockwaves through the Norfolk community, 69-year-old Christopher Robin Sibellas, a resident of Hillingdon Park, Overstrand, was sentenced to eight months in prison after a police investigation uncovered an alarming collection of indecent images and videos of children on his personal laptop. The authorities revealed that the device contained more than 5,600 such illicit files, making it one of the largest seizures of its kind in the county's history. These criminal acts were committed over a span of several years, specifically between 2006 and 2012, within the North Walsham area. Sibellas faced multiple charges, including four counts of creating and possessing indecent images of children. His guilty plea was entered during his court appearance at Norwich Crown Court, where the gravity of his offenses was fully acknowledged.
Leading the investigation, Detective Constable Mark Randall emphasized the police force’s unwavering commitment to tackling crimes involving child exploitation. He stated, “The constabulary is committed to bringing such offenders to justice and has a dedicated team of investigators who deal with crimes involving children. We hope this case sends out a strong message to those intent on possessing such images. We should remember that behind every image there is a victim of abuse.”
In addition to his prison sentence, Sibellas was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a period of ten years. Furthermore, he was issued a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that will remain in effect for five years, restricting his activities and access to potential victims. The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in Norfolk to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from harm.
