CHRISTOPHER MOORE'S BRUTAL RAPE SPREE IN DOVER LEADS TO 23-YEAR SENTENCE
A man described as an 'abusive and violent rapist' has been handed down a lengthy extended prison sentence after being convicted of a relentless campaign of sexual assault. Christopher Moore, aged 30 and residing on Coombe Valley Road in Dover, was sentenced to serve 19 years behind bars, with an additional four years on licence following his release. This means that Moore will not be eligible for parole until at least 2029, and his freedom will depend on whether authorities determine he no longer poses a threat to women.During the court proceedings, it was revealed how Moore’s victim struggled to cope with the trauma of her assault. She reportedly looked at a photograph of her deceased father to help her endure the humiliation and emotional distress inflicted during the attack. The judge overseeing the case, James O’Mahony, described Moore’s actions as a 'catalogue of cruelty,' emphasizing the extent of his brutality. The judge detailed how Moore bullied, humiliated, frightened, and threatened his victim, ultimately reducing her to a shell of her former self.
The jury found Moore guilty of nine counts of rape. Following an admission of guilt, he was also convicted of harassment and a behaviour charge. It was further disclosed that Moore had a prior conviction for causing serious harm to a four-week-old child by shaking, highlighting a disturbing pattern of violent behavior.
Prosecutors outlined how Moore, even while incarcerated, managed to contact his victim by obtaining her phone number. He sent threatening messages in an attempt to intimidate her into withdrawing her support for the prosecution. The court heard that Moore later physically assaulted her, strangling, punching, smothering her with a pillow, and kicking her. He also threatened to kill her pet dog and made disturbing remarks about reuniting her with her deceased parents, implying harm to her loved ones.
Since being remanded into custody, Moore has shown some insight into his problematic behavior and has expressed a desire to address his issues while in prison. However, Judge O’Mahony was clear in his condemnation, describing Moore’s conduct as monstrous and underscoring the danger he poses to women. The judge’s verdict reflects the severity of Moore’s crimes and the ongoing threat he represents to society.
