CHRISTOPHER JONES FROM DRIFFIELD INVOLVED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SCANDAL AT HULL CROWN COURT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Driffield, Christopher Jones, a 24-year-old charity worker, faced serious allegations related to the possession and download of explicit images involving children.The incident came to light following a police operation that also involved his father, Adrian Jones, aged 55.
Authorities seized Christopher Jones's computer during an investigation initially focused on his father.
Despite sharing the same device, the two maintained separate logins, which allowed investigators to link the computer to Christopher's activities.
The police found that Jones had downloaded over 110 images depicting children in various states of abuse, some of which involved ritualistic or satanic themes, raising grave concerns about the nature of his interests.
Christopher Jones, who is employed by the Sue Ryder Foundation, initially denied any involvement or interest in child pornography.
He chose to contest the charges and elected to have his case heard at Hull Crown Court.
Meanwhile, his father, Adrian Jones, pleaded guilty to similar charges and was sentenced accordingly.
On a Tuesday in May 2012, Jones appeared in the dock at Hull Crown Court, visibly distressed, as he admitted to six charges of making indecent images of children.
These charges stemmed from his actions on five separate occasions between October 2009 and September 2010.
His initial stance was one of denial, but he ultimately pleaded guilty to the offences.
During the court proceedings, Jones’s legal representative, barrister Paul Genney, explained that his client’s guilty plea was based on recklessness rather than malicious intent.
Genney stated, “He has pleaded guilty on the basis this was reckless downloading, knowing the material was available by this manner in a search for porn.” However, the Crown’s prosecutor, Mark Kendall, contested this explanation, asserting that the Crown did not accept the defendant’s justification.
Despite this disagreement, Kendall emphasized that pursuing a trial would not serve the public interest, given the nature of the offences.
Judge Michael Mettyear delivered his verdict, indicating that while he did not see fit to impose a prison sentence, Christopher Jones would be subject to a community order.
The judge ordered Jones to return to court for sentencing on June 22, providing a clear indication of the seriousness with which the court viewed the case.
Meanwhile, Adrian Jones had previously been dealt with at Bridlington Magistrates’ Court in December of the previous year.
He received a two-year supervision order after pleading guilty to five offences of making indecent images of children.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
Both father and son are now registered on the National Sex Offenders’ Register, reflecting the gravity of their offences and the ongoing legal consequences they face.
