CHRISTOPHER CARRE SENTENCED IN GUERNSEY FOR SEX WITH 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that drew significant attention in Guernsey, a 35-year-old man named Christopher Carre was sentenced to nine months in prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activities with a minor. The incident took place in Saltpans, St Sampsons, where Carre resided at Saline Villa.

During the proceedings at the magistrates' court, Carre acknowledged his involvement but claimed he was unaware of the girl’s true age, asserting that he did not know she was only 15 years old. However, assistant magistrate Philip Robey pointed out that it would have been straightforward for Carre to verify her age, implying a level of negligence or disregard for the facts.

At the time of the offences, Carre was 34 years old. The case was further complicated by prior disputes involving the girl’s family. The girl’s father had previously barred Carre from visiting, yet her mother continued to permit him to see her. This ongoing access was a point of concern for authorities and the court.

Inspector Terry Coule provided detailed testimony, revealing that Carre took the girl to a headland in the Vale area and asked her to engage in sexual activity. After the incident, Carre allegedly warned her not to tell anyone, threatening that her life would be at risk if she confided in her mother. The girl was visibly upset during the investigation, highlighting the emotional trauma inflicted.

Inspector Coule also disclosed that Carre requested that two other offences be considered in the case. These involved admissions from Carre that he had previously slept with the girl in a bedroom and later in a car. When questioned, Carre stated that he had ceased these activities once he learned she was only 15, suggesting a recognition of the inappropriate nature of his actions.

Legal representative Chris Green argued that Carre denied any threats or intimidation towards the girl to keep her silent about what had transpired. Notably, Carre had no previous convictions relevant to this case.

During the sentencing, members of the public gallery, who had been warned twice to remain silent, expressed their approval by applauding when the sentence was announced. The case has left a lasting impact on the community, emphasizing the seriousness of the offences committed in Guernsey.
