A man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for killing his mother.
Wayne Le Sauvage, 32, from Guernsey, was jailed for manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The Royal Court heard that Le Sauvage strangled Elaine Le Sauvage to death with a rope in her own home after beating her on 5 January 2006.
He dumped her body in a gateway behind the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.
Peter Ferbrache, defending, said Le Sauvage had a history of mental illness.
Advocate Ferbrache told the court that Le Sauvage, of no fixed abode, had killed his mother while he was ill.
The court was told the defendant had suffered a "horrific childhood" of mental and physical abuse from his mother, as well as bullying at school.
Passing judgement, the court sentenced Le Sauvage to seven years in prison, with the added condition of an extended sentence licence placing restrictions on him for a further three years.
