Christine Parker, a resident of Prince Philip Road in Launceston, was convicted in 2022 for acts of violent cruelty directed towards a domestic cat. The incident, which took place over a period from June 8 to June 12, 2021, involved Parker causing significant unnecessary suffering to an unnamed feline by inflicting blunt force trauma.

Details of the animal's condition following the attack were not publicly reported, but the severity of the injury was enough to warrant legal action. The court found Parker guilty of cruelty, leading to a sentencing that included a 16-week jail term, which was suspended for a period of 12 months. Additionally, she was ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid community service and pay costs amounting to £728.
