CHRISTIAN TYMON FROM CRUMPSALL SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES AND BLACKMAIL

In June 2020, Christian Tymon, a 33-year-old man from Crumpsall, was involved in a series of disturbing online criminal activities that targeted minors and women, leading to his eventual conviction and sentencing. The case revealed a pattern of manipulative and predatory behavior, with Tymon posing as different individuals online to exploit vulnerable victims.

According to court reports, Tymon engaged in a calculated scheme where he impersonated a teenage girl on Facebook, successfully convincing a 13-year-old boy to send explicit images and videos of himself. Under threats of posting these images publicly on Facebook for the boy’s friends to see, Tymon coerced the teenager into sending four videos, causing the boy significant emotional distress. The prosecutor, Rob Hall, described the boy as being 'angry,' 'upset,' and 'embarrassed' for a prolonged period, and he is currently undergoing counseling to cope with the trauma.

Further investigations uncovered Tymon’s online activities involving other victims. He also created fake profiles pretending to be an adult woman and a teenage girl, attempting to blackmail a woman and distress a young girl. When police arrived at Tymon’s residence in Crumpsall in May 2018, he responded by flushing his mobile phone down the toilet and attempting to take his own life by cutting his throat. The police recovered the phone, which contained email addresses linked to his Facebook accounts, and found evidence of indecent images.

During the police intervention, Tymon’s superficial attempt to end his life was noted, and he was taken to hospital, where he was discharged the following day. The court heard that Tymon had a history of similar offenses, including previous convictions for voyeurism when he lived in London, where he placed a camera in a watch to record women in a communal bathroom. Additionally, he had pretended to be a photographer to persuade a 13-year-old boy to take explicit photos of himself.

In the latest case, Tymon’s actions extended to a 17-year-old girl, whom he contacted via Facebook, again pretending to be a peer. He obtained nude images from her and later threatened to distribute them on Google unless she complied with his demands. The girl’s grandparents intervened, preventing further contact, but she reported feeling less trusting of others and unable to confide in her family. Tymon’s manipulative behavior also included a previous incident where he convinced a woman in her 20s to send a nude image via Skype, then threatened to share it unless she posed naked on Skype. She described her experience as physically impactful, with her heart pounding during the ordeal.

Despite the threats and manipulations, none of Tymon’s victims’ images were actually posted online. The police, acting on intelligence from the National Crime Agency, discovered indecent images on Tymon’s Facebook account. When officers arrived at his Crumpsall home in May 2018, Tymon’s response was to put his phone down the toilet and attempt to harm himself. He was hospitalized but survived the incident.

It was also revealed that Tymon had a history of voyeurism, including previous convictions for secretly recording women in a London communal bathroom. His criminal record further includes convincing a young boy to take explicit photographs of himself by pretending to be a photographer.

Judge Michael Leeming addressed Tymon’s lack of empathy for his victims, noting that he appeared to derive 'pleasure from manipulating and distressing' them. Tymon admitted to five counts, including attempted blackmail, engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, blackmail, and sending distressing communications. The judge sentenced Tymon to six years and nine months in prison and ordered him to sign the sex offenders register for life, emphasizing the severity of his predatory conduct and the need for ongoing supervision to protect the public.
