MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR KIDNAPPING AND RAPING WIFE AFTER FLEEING TO REFUGE
A violent husband known as Adil Rahman, aged 23, was sentenced to an indefinite term of at least four years after kidnapping and raping his wife following her escape to a women's refuge.
Court reports detailed that Rahman had assaulted his wife throughout their brief marriage, keeping her essentially as a 'virtual slave'.
When she fled, Rahman actively searched for her by circulating her photograph within Asian communities.
Ultimately, he detained her at a friend's residence and raped her twice, as confirmed in Sheffield Crown Court proceedings.
Judge Trevor Barber handed him an eight-year indefinite sentence, emphasizing that Rahman must serve a minimum of four years.
Authorities have also indicated that Rahman, residing in Crumpsall, Manchester, is 'effectively on license for the rest of his life' due to the severity of his crimes.
