NORTH ANTRIM MAN GUILTY OF CHILD ABUSE LEAVING BOY BLIND AND BRAIN DAMAGED
A male named Chris Fulton from North Antrim has been convicted of severely abusing a young boy, resulting in the child's blindness, brain damage, and life-threatening injuries. The court proceedings revealed that Fulton, aged 35, along with his wife Amanda Fulton who was acquitted, inflicted grievous bodily harm with intent and committed child cruelty through wilful neglect.
The jury found Fulton guilty of causing or permitting the child to suffer significant physical harm and a separate charge of child cruelty, after a trial that lasted over five weeks.
The child, on November 7, 2019, was unresponsive in the morning, but neither parent alerted medical help for three hours.
When the boy was finally taken to hospital, doctors discovered extensive injuries including skull fractures with brain bleeding, retinal hemorrhages, multiple broken ribs, fractures in both thighs and shins, a fractured wrist, and a liver laceration.
Medical experts testified that such injuries are akin to those sustained in a high-speed car crash, with no innocent explanation offered, suggesting the responsible party was one of the defendants.
The case exposed the severity of the child's injuries and the neglect involved.
The judge emphasized the harrowing nature of the trial, commended the jury’s manner, and indicated the sentencing would occur on December 13th.
