NORWICH MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND RAPES
A 48-year-old man named CHRIS BISHOP, who admitted to two rapes and a series of child sex offences, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Norwich Crown Court heard that Simon Austing coerced a girl under 16 into performing sex acts, which were recorded on video.
Austing, residing on West Hall Road, Dersingham, pleaded guilty to six counts of gross indecency with a girl under 16, dating back to 1998, as well as two charges of raping a different girl under the age of 16.
During the court proceedings, prosecutor Nick Methold read part of one girl's statement to police, in which she said Austing told her not to talk about what had happened, adding that after revealing her situation to police, she felt a weight had been lifted.
The defense lawyer, Thomas Brown, stated that Austing's admission of guilt spared the victims the trauma of giving evidence in court.
Judge Peter Jacobs described the case as 'disturbing' and emphasized that the offences were aggravated by coercion and pressure on the victims.
Austing is required to register as a sex offender upon release and is permanently prohibited from working with children.
