FIFE WOMAN POURED WASHING UP LIQUID DOWN PARTNER’S THROAT DURING SHOCKING ABUSE
A woman poured washing up liquid down the throat of her partner during a 15-month campaign of abuse in Dundee and Fife.Chloe Gourlay also threatened to commit murder if the woman left her.The jealous 23-year-old repeatedly accused the woman of infidelity and threatened her with knives.Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard the washing up liquid incident happened when they were on holiday.Fiscal depute Alistair McDermid said: “During an occasion on holiday in Ayr the couple were in a takeaway restaurant and the male that was serving them struggled to understand (the complainer).She had to repeat the order.“This caused Ms Gourlay to get angry and she left (the complainer).“(The complainer) went looking for Ms Gourlay.“When the couple got back to the caravan they were staying at Ms Gourlay was still angry.“She continued to question (the complainer) about her sexuality and then she forced open her mouth and poured washing up liquid down her throat.”Court hears of razor and knife incidentsMr McDermid said Gourlay repeatedly questioned whether her partner was really bisexual and accused her of infidelity.In an incident in February last year Gourlay slashed her partner with an eyebrow razor, requiring stitches and causing a permanent scar.Just weeks later she stabbed a kitchen knife through the woman’s Crocs, cutting her toe.In a final incident the couple had been out at a pub in Glenrothes when the complainer received a snapchat message from another woman.This enraged Gourlay and after they returned home the woman tried to leave.This led to Gourlay attacking her, choking her and later holding a knife against her forehead.Mr McDermid said: “She held it there for about ten seconds and was shouting: ‘You make me like this, it’s your fault.
I give you warnings before I feel like this’.“Ms Gourlay then took the knife away.“During this (the complainer) was continually crying and was asking to leave.“Ms Gourlay took the front door key out of the front door.“(The complainer) asked multiple times if she could leave and each time was told: ‘No’.“(The complainer) said to her: ‘You aren’t giving me any options then, are you’ and Gourlay replied: ‘I’ll do murder if you leave’ and she was told to go back upstairs to bed.”The woman was eventually able to leave the following morning.Sentencing deferredGourlay, a prisoner at Polmont, admitted abusing her partner at addresses in Dundee, Leven, Buckhaven and elsewhere.She further admitted breaching bail in July 2025.Sentencing was deferred for reports.For more local court content visit our page or join us on Facebook.
