CHERIE MOORE, ROBYN MOORE, AND AARON CUMMINGS BANNED AFTER HORRIFIC ANIMAL CRUELTY IN LEITH

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Leith, Edinburgh, three individuals were found guilty of neglecting and mistreating multiple animals in their residence located at Cables Wynd House. Cherie Samantha Moore, born on November 4, 1988, her partner Robyn Melissa Moore, née Daniels, born on March 1, 1987, along with their friend Aaron Cummings, born on February 10, 1987, were all implicated in a severe case of animal cruelty involving nine cats, one dog, and a rabbit.

According to the findings of the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), the animals were kept in extremely cramped and unsanitary conditions within the flat. The investigation revealed that the majority of the cats were confined to just two rooms, where they were found to be eating voraciously, to the point of choking, due to severe hunger. The conditions inside these rooms were appalling, with inspectors describing the overwhelming smell of ammonia that permeated the space, indicating a complete neglect of hygiene and proper care.

One of the cats was observed in a state of starvation, consuming food so greedily that it was choking, clearly indicating a lack of adequate nourishment. In another room, three additional cats were kept without any access to food or water, further exemplifying the neglect. The dog, named Honey, was found in a lean condition, suffering from a visible skin ailment that caused hair loss along her back and legs. She exhibited signs of high anxiety and mental distress, pacing around the room and scratching herself excessively, which pointed to her poor mental and physical health.

The rabbit, identified as Snowy, was found with severely overgrown nails that hindered his mobility. Despite this, Snowy was in relatively good physical condition until veterinary examinations revealed severe dental issues. Sadly, due to the extent of his dental problems, Snowy had to be euthanized on veterinary advice. The investigation also uncovered that the animals had been deprived of basic necessities such as proper food, water, veterinary treatment, and a suitable environment.

Police Scotland was called in to assist with the seizure of the animals. Veterinary assessments confirmed that the overall health of the cats was poor, with many suffering from emaciation, dehydration, flea infestations, and stress-related conditions such as excessive itching. The conditions these animals endured were described as deplorable, with their suffering clearly evident.

All the animals involved in this case have since been rehomed, providing them with the care they desperately needed. However, Snowy, the rabbit, was humanely put to sleep due to his severe dental issues. The three individuals involved—Cherie Moore, Robyn Moore, and Aaron Cummings—were all sentenced to a ban from keeping animals for three years, a restriction that expired in 2022. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of neglecting those who cannot speak for themselves.
