CHASE FOWLER FROM LAKENHEATH SENT NAKED SNAPCHAT TO 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN THE UK
In November 2018, a serious case of misconduct involving a cheerleading coach from Lakenheath, USA, came to light, resulting in his imprisonment. Chase Fowler, aged 27, who resided on Back Street in Lakenheath, was working in Cambridgeshire at the time of the incident. The case drew significant attention after it was revealed that Fowler had sent a nude Snapchat photograph of himself to a 13-year-old girl who was a student in his class. The incident occurred on August 17, when the girl refused to send a similar photo of herself. Despite her refusal, Fowler proceeded to send her a naked image of himself via Snapchat. The girl, initially embarrassed and unsure of what to do, chose not to disclose the incident immediately. It was only later that month that a friend encouraged her to report the matter, but she was hesitant because the Snapchat photo had disappeared from her account, leaving her concerned about the lack of evidence.
Subsequently, the girl contacted Fowler through messages, questioning him about the photo. She asked, “do you know it’s illegal?” to which Fowler responded, “yes, I’m sorry.” She then pressed him further, asking, “do you realise you sent a 13-year-old a nude photo?” Fowler’s reply was to inquire whether she had saved the image. The situation escalated when Fowler was arrested the following day. During police investigations, authorities seized his mobile phone, which revealed a disturbing pattern of communication with a 14-year-old girl in Texas, United States.
The police and court proceedings uncovered that the conversations between Fowler and the minors were suggestive and carried a sexual tone. Fowler admitted to two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child and two counts of making indecent photographs of a child. The court was told that the images and messages demonstrated a clear breach of trust, especially considering Fowler’s awareness of the girls’ ages.
Judge David Farrell QC described Fowler’s actions as “the most appalling breach of trust,” emphasizing that Fowler knew exactly how old the girls were. As part of his sentence, Fowler was sentenced to 12 months in prison. Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his contact with minors and prevent further offenses. Once he completes his sentence, Fowler is set to be deported back to the United States, where he will face further legal and social consequences for his actions.
