CHARLES NICHOLLS KIDNAPPING INCIDENT IN MOLD NEAR WREXHAM SHOCKS COMMUNITY

In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the town of Mold near Wrexham, Charles Nicholls was involved in a serious criminal act that led to his detention under the Mental Health Act. The events unfolded in Rhosnesni, a locality close to Wrexham, where Nicholls, a 41-year-old resident of Mold, was found guilty of kidnapping an 11-year-old girl after forcibly dragging her from her home.

According to reports, the incident occurred in April of the previous year. Nicholls reportedly broke down the door of the young girl’s residence, which was located in Rhosnesni, and forcibly took her from her home while she was screaming for help. The girl’s mother, who heard her cries, intervened immediately and managed to prevent Nicholls from taking her daughter away. Her quick action was instrumental in thwarting what could have been a tragic outcome.

Following the disturbance, a jury at Chester Crown Court found Nicholls guilty of both kidnapping and affray during a hearing held on a Thursday. As a result of the conviction, he was remanded into custody and transferred to a psychiatric facility for further assessment. The court proceedings revealed that at the time of the incident, Nicholls was unemployed and was detained by two men, one of whom was identified as Dave Gaskell, a former goalkeeper for Manchester United and Wrexham. The prosecution argued that Nicholls’s motive for the kidnapping was linked to an obsession with a barmaid he had become fixated on, and during the chaos, witnesses reported hearing him shout to the girl that he loved her. Judge Dafydd Hughes praised the 11-year-old for her courage and commended her sister for her quick thinking in calling the police and caring for her younger brother during the crisis.
