A woman with no regard for others' feelings, who exploited a man with dementia and betrayed his trust, has been incarcerated.
Charlene Carey exploited the man's goodwill by repeatedly gaining entry to his residence over the span of a week.
During her visits, she stole various possessions, including cash, a bank card, a digital camera, its lenses, and a tripod.
She preyed on her victim's frailty, pretending to seek assistance and companionship in order to become part of his life, according to investigators.
Following a police probe into the stolen items, Carey, aged 33 and from Brougham Street, Darlington, was formally charged with burglary and theft.
She confessed to these crimes in court at Teesside Crown Court and was sentenced to four years in prison.
