TEACHER CARSTEN ZUNTZ FROM LLANIDLOES JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST BOYS IN UNITED KINGDOM
In September 2000, former teacher Carsten Zuntz was sentenced to 18 months in prison for sexual offences involving young male pupils across various schools in the UK.Zuntz, who now resides in Tanhinon, Llanidloes, Wales, admitted to charges including gross indecency and indecent assault against boys aged between 12 and 14. These incidents took place at schools in Northumberland, Shropshire, and Kent during the period from 1986 to 1990.
The court heard that Zuntz engaged in gross indecency with a 12-year-old boy who was feeling vulnerable after transferring to a Northumberland school where Zuntz was teaching.
During the proceedings at Newcastle Crown Court, it was disclosed that Zuntz’s difficult childhood—marked by experiences at preparatory and boarding schools—might have been a contributing factor to his later offending behavior.
The 51-year-old defendant was sentenced after admitting to four charges of gross indecency, one charge of indecent assault, and one charge of incitement to commit gross indecency, in separate hearings held before magistrates in Northumberland and Shropshire.
