MET POLICE OFFICER SACKED OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS
A Metropolitan Police officer known as Special Constable Carlos Correia has been dismissed without notice following serious allegations of sexual misconduct.Correia was accused of committing two counts of sexual assault against a female colleague, with the incidents reportedly occurring outside of work hours.
The Met Police launched a criminal investigation in January 2022; however, after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, no further criminal action was taken against him.
Despite this, Scotland Yard conducted misconduct proceedings, where Correia was found to have violated police standards of professional behaviour.
The misconduct hearing, which concluded on January 28, determined that Correia engaged in conduct that was 'discreditable' and proven to constitute gross misconduct, leading to his immediate dismissal.
Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall praised the bravery of a fellow officer who reported Correia's behaviour, stating, 'Although SC Correia has faced no further criminal action, his behaviour fell well below what we expect of our officers.' The police emphasized that Correia's actions were unacceptable and violated their conduct standards.
