CARL JOHNSON FROM MABLETHORPE ESCAPES JAIL DESPITE OVER 1,000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN AND ANIMALS
In a case that has shocked the community of Mablethorpe, Carl Johnson, a 41-year-old man residing on Waterloo Road, has narrowly avoided immediate imprisonment despite admitting to possessing a significant collection of indecent images. Johnson appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on March 27, where he pleaded guilty to the creation of a total of 1,001 images depicting various levels of indecency involving children. In addition to these, he also admitted to possessing 11 extreme pornographic images that portrayed sexual intercourse and oral sex between humans and animals.These offences are alleged to have occurred over an extended period, spanning from December 2010 through April 2018. The gravity of the case prompted the court to refer Johnson for sentencing at Lincoln Crown Court, where he appeared on April 26. During this hearing, the court decided on a sentence that, while serious, did not include immediate jail time. Johnson was handed an eight-month prison sentence, which was suspended for a period of 24 months, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offence within that period.
Furthermore, Johnson was ordered to complete a 50-day ‘Rehabilitation Activity Requirement,’ aimed at addressing underlying issues related to his behaviour. To bolster community safety, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed on him for a duration of ten years, restricting his activities and access to certain online content.
It is noteworthy that Carl Johnson previously held a position of responsibility as an ‘Officer In Charge’ at the 1228 Louth Air Cadets. Following his guilty plea, a spokesperson for the RAF Air Cadets emphasized the organization’s commitment to safeguarding: “RAFAC views safeguarding as its number one priority and takes the issue of safeguarding children very seriously. As such, the RAFAC employs a thorough and robust system to ensure that a safe environment for both cadets and staff is provided.”
These revelations have cast a shadow over Johnson’s reputation and raise ongoing concerns about safeguarding within youth organizations and the wider community of Mablethorpe.
