DUNDEE TESCO WORKER JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A Tesco employee named Callum McKay was found to possess hundreds of disturbing images of children being sexually abused.During a police raid on his home located on Nelson Street, officers discovered that he had uploaded and stored thousands of child abuse images and videos on his computer and mobile phone.
McKay admitted to having these illicit materials and promptly provided police with passwords and PIN codes during their search in May of the previous year.
He appeared in Dundee Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to charges involving possessing child sex abuse videos and images, including hundreds classified as Category A, which is the most severe classification.
The police investigation revealed that he actively searched for videos depicting children being raped and sexually assaulted, using terms such as “paedo mum.” The court was told that McKay, who is 24 years old and works as a customer service assistant at Tesco, had no previous convictions but was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
The investigation also uncovered more than 2,100 videos related to child sexual abuse and exploitation, with search terms indicating that children as young as two years old had been targeted.
The videos ranged from infants to children aged eight, with 893 images classified as Category A.
The court heard that police found additional images on his mobile device, with the total video runtime totaling nearly two hours.
The judge, Sheriff Mark Thornley, deferred sentencing to the following month but granted bail, and McKay was released under the condition of being on the sex offenders register.
