VIOLENT OFFENDER CAINE WILLIAMS JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND DANGEROUS DRIVING
A violent man drove an electric scooter into his former partner and strangled her while pushing her into a bush.A bystander described him as "foaming at the mouth" and thought he was going to kill the woman.
Caine Williams, 27, brutally assaulted his ex partner and threw punches at men who attempted to intervene and come to the woman's aid.
He told the men to "Mind your own f****** business" and "Do you want some as well?" Following an incident, the victim attempted to walk away from Williams but he drove at her with his electric scooter and knocked her to the floor.
A man came to assist the victim but Williams said "You mind your own f****** business".
He then ran at the man and hit him in the chest, causing significant bruising and grazing.
The victim took out her mobile to call police but Williams grabbed her arms, causing further injury.
He then grabbed her by the throat with both hands and pushed her into a bush as she struggled.
A passing witness saw the assault and remarked: "I thought he was going to kill her, I've never seen someone so aggressive.
He was foaming at the mouth." Williams shouted threats and swung punches at another man who tried to intervene.
Police were called after the victim escaped to a nearby house.
Williams, of Foundry Road, Abersychan, was arrested days later after surrendering himself to police.
He pleaded guilty to multiple charges including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating, intentional strangulation, dangerous driving, and a child abuse-related charge.
He has 23 previous convictions for offences such as wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and threats to kill.
The victim expressed her trauma, saying: "I feel completely traumatised and I can't believe this has happened...
I am still trying to process everything...
I feel sad and confused, dealing with anxiety constantly and feel on edge.
The feeling of having this statement read out makes me feel nervous." Judge Carl Harrison sentenced him to two years imprisonment and disqualified him from driving for two years upon release.
