CAIN LAMBERT'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN STOCKTON-ON-TEES: WILDLIFE ABUSE AND BREACH OF BAN

Cain Lambert, a man with a long history of wildlife cruelty, has once again come under scrutiny for his illegal activities in Stockton-on-Tees. Lambert, born on August 23, 1987, and residing at 5 Dunoon Close, was convicted in 2022 for multiple breaches of animal welfare laws and his own court-imposed restrictions.

His criminal record includes a notorious incident from November 2013, when he was sentenced to 24 weeks in jail and handed a lifetime ban from keeping animals. This punishment followed the disturbing release of footage filmed in March 2011, which showed Lambert encouraging two dogs to attack a fox. The footage captured the animals tearing into the helpless creature, which was heard yelping in pain. In the video, Lambert was seen pulling one of the dogs away from the fox before allowing both to pursue and viciously attack the animal again.

John Ellwood, representing the RSPCA, stated that the evidence suggested Lambert was actively encouraging the dogs during the attack. At that time, Lambert was already under a suspended sentence for dealing in Class A drugs, making his actions even more concerning. Lambert claimed he could not control the dogs, which he had arranged to view for ferreting purposes. He explained that a man from Newcastle had brought the dogs to a farm in Northallerton, where the attack on the fox occurred.

Despite his claims of remorse, Lambert’s actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for animal welfare. His defense attorney, Keith Thomas, argued that Lambert had since changed significantly, emphasizing that he was now a father and felt remorse for his past behavior. However, the law took a firm stance against his continued violations.

On October 21, 2021, Lambert was found in breach of his disqualification order after police and RSPCA inspectors discovered three lurcher-type dogs at his residence. The breach was uncovered following a report of excessive noise coming from his property. Inspector Garry Palmer, along with police officers, visited Lambert’s home and found a pen containing three male dogs: Crash, a dark brindle bull lurcher; Bully, a light brindle bull lurcher; and Ted, a grey and white lurcher. These dogs were taken into RSPCA care due to Lambert’s ongoing disqualification from keeping animals.

Further investigation revealed that Lambert had been caring for Bully at the time, but the dog was later returned to his cousin. Lambert had owned two of the dogs for approximately 17 months, from May 27, 2020, until October 29, 2021, during which he was also looking after his cousin’s dog on October 28, 2021. Lambert pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching his disqualification order.

Throughout his criminal history, Lambert has been involved in persecuting wildlife for many years. He is known to participate in online 'hunting' groups on Facebook, where individuals share images of animals being hunted and killed in brutal ways. The three dogs seized from his home were rehabilitated by the RSPCA and subsequently rehomed.

Inspector Palmer emphasized the importance of public vigilance, stating, “We rely on the public to notify us of any breach of bans and I would always urge them to report matters like this to us so we can intervene.”

In sentencing, Lambert received an 18-month community order, including 30 days of rehabilitation activities, 150 hours of unpaid work, and a fine of £495. Despite these penalties, his lifetime ban from 2013 remains in effect, continuing to prohibit him from owning animals.
